Blueberry Picking

We had some Five in a Row friends from North Carolina who were in town this past weekend. On Saturday we went blueberry picking with them out at the Morgan Creek Winery in Harpersville, Alabama. It was such a fun day!

Suzanne Coles daughter Mary Margaret and our Ally girl.

Mary Margaret, Ally, and Natalie.

Bryan and Camden.

The Winery is such a beautiful place but Suzanne and I were so busy visiting with one another that I didn't get any pictures of the grounds except for a few of the kids blueberry picking. We are hoping to go back in September for a Grape Stomping event that the winery holds though and I hope to get some pictures then of the grounds and winery.

Emmy in the blueberry fields. It was the first time that any of our kids had been blueberry picking.

Camdens first blueberry! I spent the few days before we went rowing Blueberries for Sal with Ally and Camden and so he was pretty excited to be able to go pick blueberries like Sal did in the story.

Now you see the blueberry.....

....Now you don't! Camden ate every single one that he picked. He loves blueberries!

We ended up picking a quart total

Some of the trees were really loaded down with berries still.

Mary Margaret and our kiddos after their hard work! It was a hot day!

We took the kids to McDonalds for some lunch and play afterwards.

Staying Cool @ The Birmingham Zoo

Here is the last of our pictures from our day at the zoo. The Birmingham Zoo has a water park area in it. It's a new addition in recent years and it sure is nice to have on hot days.

We visited the water park around 2pm and then we went back at 5pm again. At 2pm it was pretty crowded. The zoo normally closes at 5 but has extended hours on Tuesdays until 7pm. Despite that everyone really cleared out around 5pm and only a few people were left at the zoo so the kids practically had the the water park to themselves at 5pm. They liked that!

Camden loved playing in the foam.

Their is a peacock that roams freely around the zoo. The kids loved it when he got close to them. He was so fast though he was hard to get a picture of.

Camden peeked around the pole and said "peek-a-boo"!

This picture is so "Ally"! LOL! She's a huge water bug and ran up to me several times while playing in the water and said "This is the best day EVER mom"! ;-)
