It has been a while since I have shared about our kids shooting team. This past November the team headed up to Tennessee for the southeast regional fall match. They took 3rd place and brought home bronze medals from the competition!

When the kids travel to their tournaments Emmy enjoys vlogging. It's like blogging but in video form. Here is a Vlog she made of their trip to Tennessee in November. I think she did a great job putting it together. Towards the end you can see the kids shooting in the Tennessee tournament and our team being announced as a winner at the awards ceremony.
Just a few weeks ago, at the start of February, the team headed to Texas for the southwest winter regional competition. It was hosted by Glock and the Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Here are some pictures and videos from the kids time in Texas.
The Corps of Cadets arranged for a flight of three AH-46 Apache Gunships to fly around during lunch time on Saturday.
The tournament took place at the Gunsmoke Shooting Range.
Annie
Tournaments have various stages which means the targets are set up in different positions in stations around the range. Teams move from station to station to shoot each set. Scores are based on time and accuracy. You get penalized on your time if you miss. Winning is all about time scored. The set in this picture is called focus. 3 seconds or under per stage is the time that shooters hope for.
This set up of targets is called In & Out.

When you finish shooting a set of targets you paint them by spraying a can of spray paint over them so the team that follows you on that set can see their hits.

The really big news is that OUR ANNIE GIRL won the award for the fastest female shooter in the senior rimfire division!

She was actually the fastest female shooter out of all of the divisions represented but awards are given by divisions. Emmy was only 3 seconds behind her! At nationals this past summer one of the representatives came up to Annie and asked her if her last name was Oakley. We've been kidding her ever since winning the award that she is indeed our Annie Oakley! :)

I think this is pretty impressive given that Natalie is only 12 years old!
On the way home a detour was made to see some old California friends who now live in Texas. Mike & Bryan were really close during their high school and college years. They have plenty of stories to tell on one another. *grin* We all went to the same church during that time. Mike was a groomsman in our wedding. Mike met Nikki while attending Multnomah University. They married after Bryan and I moved to Alabama and then they moved from Oregon to Texas so Mike could minister as a youth pastor at a church there. It was a sweet reunion to meet up with them and get in an in person visit!
