Independence Day 2014

We had a wonderful 4th of July.

We started out by grilling hamburgers with our neighbors and friends the Connors here at home. Later that afternoon we headed out to the American Village, our favorite place to spend the 4th of July. We spent the evening there and enjoyed their amazing firework show around 9pm that night.

The girls and I enjoyed decorating the house for the holiday. Here are a few pictures.

Emmy made this windsock out of an oatmeal carton.

Annie made these banners by painting coffee filters.

I saw this idea on Pinterest- to put blue food coloring in the water. The white flowers are wild ones that were growing near our property. I thought this turned out so pretty!

Our traditional strawberry poke cake.

A few pictures from that morning and afternoon.

A few pictures from the American Village......

We went to the presidential ball first.

Chandeliers in Liberty Hall.

We then headed to the chapel to hear Patrick Henry give his famous speech "Give me liberty or give me death"....

I love the windows on the colonial chapel.

Waiting in the loft for Patrick Henry's speech to begin.

Just a few fun pictures from early evening....

On the green at dusk. The band plays until the fireworks show begins.

A few pictures while we were waiting on the fireworks show to begin.
