We Have Visitors!

5 visitors to be exact.

Yesterday afternoon they began their transformation into painted lady butterflies. I have some very excited children! Especially Camden our 4 year old!

Camera Surprises

With 6 kids in the house, I just never know what might be waiting for me when I download pictures off of one of our cameras. I love seeing the pictures that the kids take as it's fun to see the world through "their eyes". Here are a few pictures that made me smile when I saw them recently.

Camdens 4th Birthday Celebration

Right now everything is all about cars with our Camden boy so it didn't surprise us that he wanted a "Cars" birthday this year. Here's a few pictures from his birthday celebration.

The morning of his birthday his sisters marched him around the house singing "For he's a jolly good fellow" to him. He loved it!

Camden Emery turns 4!!

Hard to believe, I know. This past Sunday, April 18th our Camden boy celebrated his 4th birthday! For those of you that might not have known us back then, Camden was born 3 months pre-mature and weighed only 1 pound 15 ounces at his birth. I developed pre-eclampsia during my pregnancy with him and they had to take him by emergency c-section. He spent his first 3 months of his life in the NICU in Charlotte, NC. If you looked at him today you would never ever know that he was born so small and fragile. All life is a miracle but God gave us a special miracle and answers to prayer with Camdens life. In honor of his birthday, here is a slide show that documents his growth and change these past 4 years. We are so thankful to God for our special Camden boy! If you go through this slide show manually then you can read the notes we have made about his growth.

Art Class

The three older girls recently took a class on line drawings.

They started out with an all white piece of paper and drew the fish, border, designs on the fish, and then the bubbles of water with a pencil. They then traced over their pencil drawings with a black felt tip marker and then colored their pictures. The learned how to make one fish look like it was in front of the other and how to make a fish overlap the borders correctly too.

Annies finished picture.

Emmys finished picture. I thought they all did a great job and they really enjoyed this class.

Magnolia Festival

I have several areas in Birmingham that are my favorite. Gardendale is one of them. It's such a beautiful area! Every year the city of Gardendale puts on a festival in the Spring. They have a pooch parade, old time car show, carnival rides, arts and crafts, food vendors, and 2 stages with performers. One of the stages is hosted by the local Christian radio station so all of the performers are Christian artists. It's so great to walk around the festival listening to the Christian music. We had planned to go last year but it rained so we were super excited that the weather was clear this year and we were able to attend.

The kids loved the carnival rides. They also had a few games one of which was catfish fishing. Natalie tried her hand at it and had fun. They had a 16 pound catfish in the tank that you could try to catch. She got 2 bites but lost the catfish both times when she tried to pull them in. She was the only one in her group that had any bites.

The food vendors were fun. We found a Mexican food vendor that was offering tamales and pork tacos and both were delicious! The tamales were just like the ones we used to get in California all the time. Hard to find good Mexican food in the deep south so that was a real treat! We also tried Fried Oreos for the first time. They were very yummy!

Here are some pictures from the day.

Emmy-Annes Birthday Celebration

This year for her 12th birthday Emmy requested that we go out to eat at our families favorite local Mexican Restaurant. Bryan surprised her by taking the entire day off of work and we had lunch at the Iguana Grill.

After lunch Bryan dropped Emmy and I at the Galleria in Birmingham for an afternoon of shopping and spending some time together.

She picked out several outfits, a really cute bright pink alarm clock for her room, a mad lips book, an American Girl book, and a new bedspread. After all of that shopping we took in some McAlisters sweet tea and Haagen Dazs ice cream. She said it was a fantastic birthday. She loved all of the shopping since we don't do that much.

Once back home we celebrated with some cake. Don't you just love her cake! I thought it was adorable! The high heel shoe is a cake cutter and the flower on it is a head band. She LOVED it!
