About Us

Welcome to our little corner of the internet. We are a homeschooling family of 8 seeking to bring Glory to God in all we do. Our children's ages are 20, 19, 17, 15, 13, & 11. Our oldest two have graduated from high school and are currently in college and working. We began blogging in 2005 as a way to help long distance family members keep up with us. In 2008 we moved our blog here to blogger where I, Jen, enjoy documenting tidbits of our homeschool days and life adventures alongside an occasional book or product review.

All of our children are involved in ballroom dance classes throughout the year and three of our children compete together on the same team in Steel Challenge Pistol speed shooting competitions under the Scholastic Action Shooting Sports Foundation. Their team has gone to the National Championship for the past three years and our daughter Annie has won at National's for the past two years.

Bryan (husband & dad) spent 7 years working for Apple Computers in their retail division and now works for Student Life in Hoover, Al. Since 1993, Student Life has served churches through inter-denominational Christian summer camps, conferences & resources. They partner with Compassion International in helping orphans and those living in poverty. When Bryan is not at work he enjoys spending time with our family, coaching the kids shooting team, target and skeet shooting with the kids, and working on our garden and property. He is an incredible husband and father and we are blessed beyond belief to have him.

I, Jen, spend most of my time homeschooling the kids, something that I love. I also enjoy cooking, baking, trying new recipes, and reading. My favorite things to create in the kitchen are breads, muffins, and desserts. I love cooking for other people. Having people into our home for a meal is one of my greatest joys. I enjoy reading Christian historical and romance fiction, biographies, poetry, and some non-fiction. When I get a little free online time you will typically find me pinning my little heart out on Pinterest while looking for ways to make our home more of a cozy sanctuary from the outside world.

As a family we are active in our church where we serve alongside our faith family and friends in various capacities throughout the year. We also enjoy taking day trips together. We love the arts, festivals, museums, books, music, and movies, but most of all, we enjoy just being together.

Bryan and I were both born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. Bryan moved around a bit through his childhood having lived also in Colorado and New Mexico. We met in high school through our church youth group and began dating during our college years. We served as camp counselors together at Hume Lake Christian Camp in Northern California and worked together on staff at our church with the junior high students while in college. We were engaged in 1992 and married in September of 1993 in Bakersfield, California. Through the years we have lived in Alabama (1994-2001), Tennessee (2001-2004), and North Carolina (2004-2007). We moved back to Alabama at the end of 07' and in the fall of 2011 made our dream come true of moving out to the country.

I, Jen, developed Fibromaylgia (a chronic illness that stems from a damaged nervous system) in 2003 as a result of trauma during one of my pregnancies. It's a real challenge to deal with physically on a daily basis and sometimes leaves me housebound and even bedridden but it has caused us to lean more upon God daily, which has been a good thing!

Our family verse:

The Lord has done great things for us whereof we are glad! Psalm 126:3

We are continuously amazed at God's provision and goodness to us.

We hope you will visit us again soon.
